A twenty-three year old man, appearing before a magistrate and given an ASBO for repeatedly being drunk and disorderly, pleaded with the Magistrate and managed to persuade the Magistrate to allow him special leave to attend his local Gala Bingo Club in Cumbria. Despite the fact that the bingo club is a licensed premises and the man has been banned from all pubs and clubs.

I don’t know if the law has gone a bit loony on this, I sincerely believe that the young man is a trickster who though that he could get away with being able to enter a licensed premises as long as it was under the guise of bingo, and he was obviously right. 

This drinker, who injured a female police officer when resisting arrest, needed six police officers to hold him down when he was arrested, and this is not the first time either, claimed that he has a drinking problem, but when he plays bingo he does not drink. He was given a two year order with the bingo exemption, a twelve month community service order as well as paying ₤100 in compensation to the injured officer.  

Police said that they would monitor his behaviour at the bingo club. I personally can’t wait to see what happens with this one, he is bound to be in the news again.
