The Gala Bingo in Harrow, saw 100 year old Muriel Walton spending her centenary with friends. She was a little disappointed when she received her birthday congratulations card from the Queen though, as she shook the envelope like a teenager expecting cash, she said she would have “much rather had a cheque” J
Fortunately for Muriel, she did manage to have a great birthday and spend it at her most favorite place in the world, the Gala Bingo Club in Station Road Harrow. She regularly attends the bingo hall and was very surprised when her friends all turned up with cake and gifts. She is a great grandmother to six and said that she had a party with her children on the Saturday and it was the first time in twelve years that all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren has congregated in the same room together.
However the one of the biggest highlights of her birthday was not the telegram from the Queen, it was the party given to her, by her friends at the Gala Bingo Club. Muriel says that she has no secret to her long life, for an answer to that we would have to “ask the man upstairs”. She maintains that being active and playing bingo helps a great deal, and she hates staying indoors. And just seven years ago she traveled to Los Angeles to attend her cousins Golden Wedding anniversary. Gala Bingo presented Muriel with 100 free days of bingo.
