A long time ago in a far away land, before anyone had even thought of putting or playing bingo online (no this is not a fairy tale) there existed electronic bingo, in fact there were quite a few versions of the game. Bet you can’t guess where the far away land was? You got it, Japan. Video bingo was available in Japan as early as 1993. These forerunners of online bingo were created by the Nintendo giants more than ten years before online appeared in the UK, so that people could enjoy the pleasure of playing bingo in the comfort of their own homes.
Of course the one drawback to playing this kind of bingo was that no one huge cash prizes like they do today. Surprisingly enough in the male dominated world of video games, bingo was actually quite popular, it must have provided a refreshing break from all that punching and blowing up of things. One of these games Bing Bing! Bingo, first became available in December 1993, it featured various game modes, presumably to keep the player interested, unfortunately the entire game was in Japanese, so it wouldn’t have helped us anyway.
