A Dublin woman, who was visiting her daughter in Worthing for the Christening of her Grandchild is the winner of more than ₤30 000. Eileen Higgins was staying with her daughter and they decided to go out and have a bit of a flutter on the bingo at the local Gala club in Rowlands Road.

Well it is a good job that they did, because she caught the National Bingo prize of ₤28 675, the Regional of ₤2 051 and of course the house prize of ₤80. All of this after calling bingo on a full house after forty-three calls!

The fifty-nine year old chef who is married, has two daughters and five grandchildren and has been playing bingo for more than thirty years at her local club in Ireland, says she is still in shock at the huge win. She had not realized that she was playing the National game as they do not have it in Ireland. So when people started cheering and clapping for her, she asked her daughter Katherine if they were cheering for her. The woman seated next to her then explained what had happened.

She hasn’t planned what she is going to do with the money yet, but she might take a holiday to Spain or America with her bingo winnings.
