A twenty-three year old man, appearing before a magistrate and given an ASBO for repeatedly being drunk and disorderly, pleaded with the Magistrate and managed to persuade the Magistrate to allow him special leave to attend his local Gala Bingo Club in Cumbria. Paddy Power bingo are often in the news with their innovative yet risqué advertising campaigns, they have even had their ads removed from the London underground because of the controversial nature of the advertisements depicting a “breastfeeding man” with the caption saying “Where have all the women gone.” I personally don’t feel their was anything wrong with it and can’t understand why it was taken off, obviously someone doesn’t have a sense of humour.  (more…)

Bingo for Breakthrough is a national campaign that is supported by the National Bingo Game Association and its sister organisation the Bingo Association to support the breast cancer cause. This event takes place every year and more than four hundred bingo clubs nationwide dedicate a full week to the cause by playing games to win pink teddies and various other fund raising activities. Traditionally Bingo for Breakthrough takes place in October and this year is it scheduled to take place from Sunday 19^th – 25^th October 2008.

Many land-based bingo clubs in the UK have been forced into closure due to the double taxation enforced by the Government, actually, forty-three in the last fourteen months, and it appears as though this trend is going to continue into the future. We already know that the Government has no intention of rectifying the problem, and have even increased the tax burden of land-based bingo clubs.
