It has been reported that The French, Government run, Francaise des Jeux, which is the sate run gaming operation, might be looking at the option of selling shares to liberalize its gambling market. This is seen as a positive move for the online bingo industry as it would free them up to offer online bingo services to the French public.
Presently UK online bingo operators are not allowed to provide services in France as the gambling industry there is monopolized by Francaise des Jeux. This supposed move to sell shares is in an attempt to “evolve in market conditions similar to those of its competitors”.
Problem is that the wheels of Government (in any country) turn slowly and UK online bingo operators are going to have to bide their time to see what transpires in this scenario. So for the time being the current laws in France have to be respected, and online gaming and publicity is still banned in France.
I really don’t know what it is about countries with these restrictive and antiquated rules and law, goodness we are after all in the 21st Century, I wish they would wake up to this fact and the fact that online bingo is here to stay.
