The Bingo for Breakthrough campaign, runs every year in October, and at present all the bingo clubs in the UK are gearing up for this massive fund raising week. This year’s events take place from the 19th to the 25th October, and are being represented by actress Michelle Collins. She has already appeared in ball gown made of bingo tickets for the launch of this unique event.
Bingo for Breakthrough is held to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. They have raised ₤2.7 million in the last five years and are hoping to break the ₤3 million mark this year. Michelle says that she is delighted to be involved and is encouraging everyone to get down to their local bingo club to get involved.
During the Bingo for Breakthrough week clubs will raise money by offering free bingo games and inviting members to make donations to this worthy cause. There will also be a whole host of fundraising activities including fancy dress competitions and raffles. Participating clubs will offer prizes of the Bingo for Breakthrough mascot and they will be selling pink dabbers at 75p each. All money from the sale of the pink bingo dabbers will go directly to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity, and Gala online bingo will also be participating in this fund raising drive. I expect that a whole lot of other online bingo sites will also get involved, so we should be hearing something from them quite soon.
